IMPROVEMENT

Jon has been in Mexico for one week and we're already seeing noticeable improvements. Last week he was taking 8 pain pills a day and he is down to only 2. When he went to the hospital, he had quite a bit of pain in the abdomen liver area, as well as the shoulder, and he could feel a large lump (or tumor) just under the rib cage. The CT scan showed he had 2 tumors the size of tennis balls. Today Jon said he could not feel the lump any more!! Isn't that GREAT news? He receives a heat treatment every day and the doctor is hitting the big tumors from every angle every day. I just weep with joy and thanksgiving for the knowledge we gained only a few weeks ago. I received a call from the oncology nurse urging Jon to make the appointment for his continued chemo treatments. Sorry . . . we're not going there again. When he returns, we will follow up with the UCSF liver specialist.

He continues to receive nutrients through IV up to 6 hours a day. That's in addition to about 50 pills he takes orally every day. His meals are simple with no added salt, sugar or spices but include lots of vegetables and fruits, whole grains, fish, soups, and at least a green drink or fruit drink with every meal. No pasta or breads, etc. He eats everything they bring with much less effort than last week although he still feels some nausea occasionally.

There is a woman in the room across the hall who Jon has befriended. She is from North Carolina and is in for Lyme disease being bit by a spider 11 years ago. She has been fighting the ongoing illness with $$$ all these years and has high hopes for a cure through Dr. Bradford. Her husband is with her, actually stays in a motel across the border but visits every day. They have included Jon on their walks along the Tijuana streets which isn't really refreshing but perhaps better than lying in bed all day every day.

Kaylinn and my mom were there to visit for a few hours Monday. Kaylinn gave Jon the ultimate buzz and shaved his head because the hair had fallen out and was blotchy and left hair everywhere. She also brought him a picture book full of all our latest family pictures. I had even taken some pictures of my hiking around Mt. Diablo trails which Kaylinn made a few 8X10's. He got pretty teary eyed feeling close to home. My mom took in four more books for him to read since he finished everything he had taken. If you double click on any of the pictures including the slide show, they will enlarge.

Thank you so much for the website. You are on my mind so much and in my prayers. My family is behind you 100% and loves you dearly.
I love your "perspective" quote. How beautiful and inspiring. Yes, He walks with us and know He is there with surity during our darkest hours. He will hold you up. The words to "How Firm a Foundation" gave me strength during my hospital ordeal.
That Macade is absolutely darling. Love all the photos.

We are so glad to hear of his improvement and continue to pray for his recovery. We think of you daily and know how difficult this is for all of the family. Life sure changes on a dime sometimes... it is hard to know what to expect, but with faith in the Lord, we have the comfort that He will guide and protect us....... and comfort us in our difficulties. Know that we are with you in our prayers and thoughts........ and love you all very much. Steve, Joan and Lisa

Uncle Jon,

That is wonderful news!

By the way, you look rather dignified without hair, like a powerful man.

Thank you, Dianna, for keeping us informed so well. These positive reports, and the progress Jon's making with the treatments provides some real hope, where before you found this Hospial in Mexico, there was but little. We understand that He's not out of the woods yet, but good news is not only good for his loved ones to hear, but it surely must be good for the patient himself. The courts above are assailed with the prayers of all of us, and our entreaties are not going unnoticed. The ravages of Cancer are clearly evident in the photos, and are painful to look at. The support from Sister Portlock, Kay, and others is so vital and helps fill a real need, and to know that some real friend has offered air miles to you, Dianna, to make the next visit is surely heart warming. We love you for all you are doing to hold things together, and bolster us up with good news.

Sis. Wright....So sorry to hear about Bro. Wright, but so glad you guys are so actively fighting! It sounds like the treatments in Mexico are really promising. You are in our thoughts and prayers! I can't believe how grown all your kids are and how cute your little grandson is! I still remember babysitting them when you lived on Walace Drive! Take care, and tell John that we are thinking of him!

Hi Dear Brother and Dianna,
I just located this blog. What a great thing.I too am thinking of you and praying for you constantly. I am so pleased and gratful beyond words for this treatment. I sang at the funeral of the mother of one of TeNeal's best friend today who ha been with cancer for about 4 years. I didn't know how bad she was doing, and about 4 days ago i told Brittney about this treatment, saying how i thought maybe her mom could benefit. She reported to me and Teal that that morning her dad had given her mom a blessing to be released from this life. It is good to know that perhaps someday we might understand more of the why's to these questions. Why was it her time to go, and why is it your time to be healed?, of which I am so grateful. grateful to Doreen who followed the spirit so our whole family can benefit from this miracle. These blessings seem so sacred, it is hard for me to talk to them with others. I'm sure you understand. Thanks for the blogspot where we can keep in touh and know of your improvments. All of our love: Lori and Fam

Hey mom and dad,
I know i hear it all over the phone when i talk with you two but i love reading it as well. This is an experience that i will never forget. This has made me grow personally and our family grow so close words can not describe it. Such a sacred and miraculous thing has happened here in our lives i feel strange sharing it with anyone and it never feels like they get the true concept of how wonderful it is anyway. It is amazing that God has given us the privledge to have this miracle given to us. We must have all done something right in our lives!! We love you both so much and can not wait to see you again.
All my love forever,
Tessa, Cory and Macade
